You are instructed to create a 12th level, paragon character. Here you can post your character backgrounds. Use of the character background bonuses from PHB2 or another book must be explained in the background story. Without this I will veto the bonus! No monsterous races. You may use only 'Player Races' from the books. So... 12th level character. Either use an Array for stats or use the rules mentioned on the General Board. I am not sure about drow or genasi. You get 3 items, a level 11, level 12, and level 13 item. And gold equivalent to an 11th level item. That gold can be used to buy other items during character creation. we ARE playing this campaign for this upcoming Sunday. For any other calendar issues, refer to the General Board -> Calendar thread.

Heya rireilova,
I'm Kyle. I'm the DM for this game. We actually met a couple people last Sunday, so please remind me of your name. Thanks.
Also, please note that this is a paragon tier campaign. I'm not sure what your experience is with D&D 4th ed., but paragon tier presents many more options for players than heroic tier (lvl 1-10). We are happy to help you out, if you need advice, etc. Just be aware that it might be a bit overwhelming if you are not used to it. I myself am not used to it, as I have only run 2 sessions at this level.
Lastly, a drow character will be fine, but I'm going to restrict genasi. Note that the campaign world is not Forgotten Realms (drow and genasi are both prevalent in FR, correct?). The campaign world is called 'Danu' (see other threads on this board) and follows the default D&D 'points of light' idea. Most everything in core D&D will be allowed in Danu.
See you Sunday, Kyle Devon

Hey all, Good job working with the timer last Sunday. I think it helped out, and no one really took too long for their turn (except maybe the DM, but that's my prerogative ). I realize that last week there was some mix up, and 'thank you' to JP for coming to the game after realizing that Robert wasn't going to make it. But I would like to remind everyone that the sooner we start playing, the more fun we have. As it was on Sunday we did two encounters and we went almost an hour past 7. I know some people have other commitments, including families to go home to, so let's try and make an effort to finish around 7. A large part of this rests on the DM's (i.e. me) shoulders. It will be easier to get going if people show up at or before 1pm. I get to the store most often well before 1 to set up (and eat lunch). Thanks. I will plan on holding a game on the 27th (weekend after christmas). Please let me know if you will not be able to make that game.

Also, other suggestions and input for logistics are welcome. Maybe you don't like the timer. Maybe you have some other ideas. It's cool. Let me know.

Game is on for this Sunday, and I expect we'll have a full 5 member party. Maybe I'll even bring my creative hat.

Ah, yes. Family comes first, I suppose. Wait, what am I saying!? Get your priorities straight! lol Actually, this will likely make it easier to introduce your character, Ricardo. No worries. We'll get you back in the game the next time you are available. I think our next game is 7 Feb, so we'll see you then, hopefully.

Are monster races out of the question for PCs? I was thinking of using Hobgoblin for the Battlemind class for RP reasons. Hobgoblin has the "Battle Ready" racial feat that states it get's a +2 bonus to initiative checks. I basically see him as a "battle-hardened war monger" that rushes head long into battle and fights through pure toughness and intimidation (Charisma and Constitution).

In my games I prefer people to not play monsterous races. The game developers said from the get go that monsters were designed to be bad guys, and they have a different power level than the good guys. I know it can be done. I know it can be fun. I just don't allow them in my games.
