Nah it's a homebrew. I've read it before, heh. But it does give flavor options. If people want to be a certain class but want to change their power source, I'd be more than happy to help and give options/replacements. Of course there ARE draw backs but also bonuses.

Alright, I read the history of the world of Athas from the AD&D campaign book. Some very interesting stuff... I recommend everyone who is considering playing in DS get a hold of the book somehow and read it.
Some interesting points: > There are no deities, naturally. They did not abandon the world.
> The origin of all species come from the Halflings. There were the only intelligent race in Athas' beginning. Then throughout the generations and generations the other demihuman races evolved from the halflings.
> The sun was orginally blue. It was changed twice. First by the halflings to a yellow color, which started the vast changes in Athas ( includes the evolution of he races). Then a second time to Crimson color by the person who gave the sorceror kings their power.
> Magic was discovered in secret by one man and works fundamentally different than magic in other settings. It didn't get corrupted over time, there was always a proper way and a hasty way to cast magic. The one who discovered magic spread the teachings of preserving to the public and kept the more powerful defiling magic to himself and his students (who eventually become the sorceror kings).
