I tried to find one last time we were in the city.
They didn't have one. And I think it was like an 80% chance or something like that.

Buying the raise dead ritual? 680 gp. Raising Claire? 500 gp. Realizing that Claire is now a fanatic zombie without a soul who wants to rip off your face and you have to put her back down? Priceless

Bah.
If only that was how the spell worked.
Though I must admit, I laughed.

"The subject’s soul must be free and willing to return to life. Some magical effects trap the soul and thus prevent Raise Dead from working, and the gods can intervene to prevent a soul from journeying back to the realm of the living. In all cases, death is less inclined to return paragon and epic heroes; the component cost is 5,000 gp for paragon tier characters and 50,000 gp for epic tier characters." If claire isn't willing... ZOMBIE TIME!

Willing refers to the fact that the soul must want to return to life. It is my understanding that when someone tries to resurrect a dead person, the soul is notified, wherever they are. They can then choose to accept the summons or not. If they refuse, the ritual fails and the component cost is not expended.

Free and willing though. What if her soul is trapped into releasing the dragon door? Also, why wouldn't the component cost be expended? You've attempted a ritual and failed. And that's also what i meant by Willing. if Claire isn't willing or is somehow blocked, you've created a shell or body, that is now soulless. Remember, raise dead can be done on just a single part of the body. So for example if all you have recovered is the finger, you can still raise dead. The ritual would restore the body, but the soul doesn't have to come back if not.

Last time on Danu . . .
After freeing the dragon from its prison within the inner sanctum of Val'Heshak, the party ventured back to the camp of the Iron Talon. They carried the body of Claire, fallen paladin (as in dead, not anti-) of Bahamut, back with them. Also, the wounded White Lion hobbled out with them.
Something, perhaps news of the death of his aunt Tulka, enraged the warleader of the occupying orc force - evident by the volley of villager heads sent out to the Iron Talon.
The party decided to enter the occupied town of Henton through a small break in the wall on the North side. Meanwhile, the Iron Talon launched an attack on the main gate, serving as a diversion for the party.
After a brief street battle, the party made it to the command center at the town square. A bloody battle with Gurndash, warmaster of the Blood Tooth tribe ensued. It ended with his head on a pike. Dak ran off to intimidate the broken orcish force at the main gate. Reliance and Keira went to free the citizens of Henton.
After sending the orcs into retreat, the was a celebration in the town. A good night's rest refreshed the worn-out heroes, and they began their day's journey back to Haven. A brief respite was had as they checked on Tara and her son.
Moving on, they find themselves at the gates of Haven . . .

Heads up . . . it appears the games are switching weekends!
That means the next time we're scheduled to play Danu should be the 10th of April.
I'll post a short synopsis of what occurred during the last session before the 10th.

Yes! Game on Sunday.
Last time on Danu . . .
The party returned to Haven and had dinner with Lady Odette Blanchard. They were rewarded for their efforts at Henton. Though the Lady did not have another task for them, she did say she would be in contact in the future. Lord Lothair Blanchard made an appearance at dinner as well, though he looked strained from his long days "hunting".
The party went shopping. (please let me know if there is any vital equipment that you need, but do not yet have.)
The party went with Keira to have her friend Claire resurrected. Adara, the Deva priestess, informed the party that the feather of a pegasus was required to perform the ritual. Yuriel recalled that Mindartis Kildare once owned one. Dak recalled that a thug named Thorn from the gang of Sibylox would wear one about his neck.
The party accompanied Reliance to meet with Shaw, only to find his apartment ransacked and Shaw missing. Some floor-boards had been removed - a secret compartment, but nothing left inside. The upstairs window had been left open, and some threads remained attached to the window.
A chance rescue of a man being robbed in a back alley led to Dak meeting up with an old acquaintance from his days in Sibylox's gang. He let the thug run back to his master without consulting the rest of the party, which upset them. Yuriel's lordly status prevented the party from being arrested in the aftermath of the alley-fight.
The party then decided to follow Dak and go after Thorn. They investigated a warehouse by the docks and were attacked in what appeared to be a trap set by the thug Dak had released. Though the party prevailed. They discovered a trap door within the warehouse . . .
See you Sunday!

Hi Randy, yes this is the right place. Also, I have a google site with more information about this campaign and backgrounds for the other characters. You can find it here: sites.google.com/site/danucampaign/homeYou can browse that site to see what the others did for their character backgrounds. I recall you mentioned an idea already. PM me with ideas and/or a write up on character background. I might have an idea for you as well, based on your race choice. Kyle Devon
