Cool! Thanks for trying out GURPS. It was fun.
In two weeks we'll return to Danu for the start of the paragon tier. We'll have some homework to do to advance the characters' stories. Already, some ideas have been sent to me.
Also, we'll need to find another venue for the game in two weeks, because David will be late to the game. I am offering my place to host, but be warned that I don't have a very good table for the game-play. I might figure something out.

I thought it was fun. We fudged out way through most of it, learning the rules as we went. I think the system is really good. However, from a GM standpoint, it looks like it would be a lot of work. There are probably creature catalogs available, and that would significantly reduce the amount of prep time. I didn't know what I was doing, but I had to make up the monsters for the short adventure we played. I made up four monsters. In the process I learned a good deal. I can imagine that as you learn the system, then the prep time is reduced. And of course you can re-use and modify old monsters.
It's pretty difficult to actually land a blow that does damage, because you have the attack roll and defense roll. Then armor gives damage reduction. So really if you take damage it ends up being a handful of points at the most from one blow. There is magical healing available for the mages, but it's pretty limited. Natural healing takes a long time.
In all, the system is very "realistic" (although there are some ridiculous "cinematic" rules like "it's just a flesh wound" and "naked armor" -- the less you wear the more armor you have, e.g. chainmail bikini). That's attractive. It's also incredibly flexible.
I'd be interested in playing it more, if we find the time and desire. For now, it sounded like the other guys wanted to return to D&D and Danu, which is also fine with me. I'll let them speak for themselves.
