Thus began a scary time for the half-party. They were faced with enemies behind and the unknown of the tunnels below. Turning immediately to the right, and running at a full pace, they chose the second tunnel.
They could hear their pursuers discovering the passage they had taken below, and raced past one chamber and into another...this one being a dead end. This deepest chamber held four large sacks, and the sacks were pulsing....and oozing pus and blood. In the middle of the sacks was a mighty blade...a Bastard Sword.
These sacks held humanoid sized beasts, and they seemed very determined to protect their lair. One by one they hatched...and nasty creatures they were. Immediately, the party found themselves besieged by the horrible buggers as they hatched and began to attack in earnest.
to be continued....

The group found themselves battling creatures unlike anything they had ever encountered. These 'dried beef' looking creatures, whose circulatory systems appeared to be external, attacked savagely and swiftly. As the party attempted to retreat along the tunnel that had led them there, they found themselves cut off...these creatures were burrowing ahead!!!
It was the first time this group had faced a threat serious enough to kill them...and it nearly did. But in the end, bloodied and battered, they managed to overcome this monstrous threat.
As the party tended to their wounded, and revived those stricken unconcious, it was the Atreides telepathy with his hawk that alerted them that the rest of the party was approaching...and the undead desert walkers still inhabited the abondoned mining sight!!!
Vulf the Fremen decided to get the party's attention. He did this by blasting a hole in the top of the cavern...causing an avalanche of rock and dirt to fall in. The returning party members ventured down through the hole and rejoined their fellow adventurers in the tunnels below.

Two of the Ashen Husks from above were startled by the noise of the sudden cave-in, and came to seek what they always seek...water. They both fell, more than jumped, into the pit and were quickly dispatched by the party.
Quickly the group sought to make their way to another tunnel known to the Fremen. To their surprise, the other tunnel had been blocked and there were scratched symbols in the dirt telling them this exit was not an option. They had ventured too close to another Fremen tribes sietch. Mysteriously, the two husks that had followed them down this route were gone.
The adventurers then made their way down the last unexplored tunnel...hoping to make a clean escape from the lifeless wanderers above. And they did find another exit...through another of the abandoned buildings.
Silently, they crept above into the building that appeared to have once served as a barracks for the long dead miners. Quickly a plan was formed: they would lure the creatures into the small opening and use their numbers to subdue the beasts one at a time.
The gamble worked.
Once the sounds of battle subsided and they were afforded a moment of quiet, the group noticed spires of smoke accompanied by loud 'booms' to the East. So, after a short rest, the party decided to head North to the hills in order to get a view of what was happening.
(next....Bhen-Jameen!!)
