I've noticed that when I leave a post open and "modify" for updates, it doesn't show it as a new post, so from here on out I'll mark here if there's been any modifications to previous posts. This should only affect the "Story so far..." page.

Today in Dune's last encounter there was a series of 1's rolled. Back to back. It was amazing. Write what happened as a result to each of you and I'll grant an exp. bonus to your character.
And for those of you who had to leave early, your characters all survived. Valdur even got in another kill between sips of tea...heh.

The fearless Swordmaster of Ginaz, Tairith Stridai, gazed upon the abandoned outpost with a sense of apprehension and caution.
"It seems this place is devoid of life. Probably a safe place to rest and even explore! Yet somehow I know not everything is how it seems..." thought Tai to himself.
To his right he saw a damaged building with a hole in the wall opposite the door. Hot, uncomfortable, unused to wearing so much cover for so long he decided to begin exploring the shaded interior entering through the hole which was closer. He stopped just short of the caved in wall. He peered in. It was lifeless and still. Sacked and vandalized by previous visitors. Yet, there was something eerie about it. He knew not what. He took a step inside.
To his shock he felt his foot hit something and the next moment he found his face planted into the floor. "What the?" he thought. Back home Tai was known for his agility and awarness. His ability to effortlessly control his movements in battle and now some how he has tripped and fallen flat on his face! He looked at his foot and amazingly the laces of the heatsuit's boot had come undone and caught on a jagged piece of the stone wall! "This blasted heat is dulling my senses! Not even when I was a boy did the straps of my sandals or the laces of my boots ever come undone!"
Tai picked himself up. It was dark, but he was still curious to find any clues that might explain what happened to the outpost. He began his search again with the aid of the Ixian who was complaining about a splinter. "Bah. Weakling book nerds. Spend all day in labs without a clue how to handle themselv..." Tai's thoughts were interrupted by his sudden slip on a pile of hyena dung sending him up in the air, literally flying, and then landing quite hard on his back. "That's gonna leave a mark," Tai muttered under his breath. As he got up Arotha (spelling?) called his attention to some books and manuals the Ixian found while Tai had fallen... for the second time. Finished with this obviously cursed ground Tai left the building and headed over to the silo to continue his examination of the premises leaving the books and manuals to Arotha.

All Vulf could do was roll his eyes each time these fumbling bumbling witless outlanders stepped on a rotten floorcovering in a ruin they were warned against enetering.
He and his brother exchanged knowing glances everytime someone would trip over their own shadow, drop their weapon at the worng moment or shoot themselves in the leg.
Vulf wondered how would they ever get through a week in the desert... a place more unforgiving than a deflowered virgin's angry Father.

Gurdh't Loins cautiously approached the dilapidated outpost, but made sure not to be the first one in. Only fools and dead men go in first, he thought to himself. He hated the desert and already had sand in unmentionable places, but was nonetheless intrigued by the presence of a well. Though he could summon water himself, he knew the practicality of using the lay of the land and continued walking closer. Momentarily losing his train of thought, Gurdh't began to reflect back on the beauty of homeland until a sudden jerk brought him out of his reverie. As he pitched forward towards the black depths of the well, he realized that he had tripped over a broken piece and cursed himself mightly. Imagine! A mighty Bene Tleilax cleric overcome by an insignificant rock on a sun blasted continent. What next he thought? To his surpise he felt a firm grip take hold of his left leg which stopped his fall further into the well. Gurdh't looked up and saw his new companion Vulf (?) clutching his leg with a condescending look on his face. Gurdh't immediately look away and back down into the well seeking to lessen his shame in front of these non-believers. Adding insult into injury, Gurdh't could see that the well was completely devoid of water and only contained a few scorpions at the bottom. What a complete waste of effort, he thought, for no reward whatsoever. After being pulled clear of the empty well, Gurdh't thanked his savior and retreated inwards to save what was left of his dignity.

damn that was funny...take 250 exp...it's a good thing that we had such a light-hearted take on that series of 1's...the desert is going to be less and less forgiving, so I like the fact that we're having these kind of 'group moments.'
It'll soften the stings of what is to come.

I say lets Dune it up sunday. Might have a newbie join us. His name on the hired swords is "Atreides" so he'll probably be able to fit right in. Maybe even to take the place of Sa Shimi?

Seriously? That just kills half the story...and I was already having some writers block on one part of what was happening.
BOOM!! The ante is upped for the rest of the party. Grummush is going to sleep off his grievous injuries in the Ornithopter, thus disqualifying him from obtaining the first Key. This makes it look like we've got two contenders for that first Key...the two who are most at odds...the Tleilaxu and the man formerly of Ix. High stakes indeed.
