Parents are too busy to get in a car with me, and I've yet to find a driving school to replace the RCC one after their instructor went into relapse for his cancer.
It's annoying, to say the least.

So, i'm doing a study of CMR, (Chemical, Material, and Radiological) compounds, and i came across an article on Embrittlement dealing with plastics and crystal matrices. it's super interesting stuff, i know, but it verifies my logic that torsional stresses applied to a crystal matrix will cause inward deconstruction. This phenomenon is known as brittle-fracture, (the sudden and catastrophic failure of a substance with no appreciable sign of plastic deformation). not that this matters much, or we can refund 15 HP, but i was intrigued by it. i'm copying the paragraph word for word, so if the verbiage is confusing, i'll be happy to explain.
As a rule, the large increase of elastic modulus with increasing draw ratio obtainable in highly-drawn or extruded semicrystalline polymers is not reflected in a similarly large increase of strength. This is closely connected with the wellknown fact that with increasing plastic deformation one obtains fibrous material with decreasing strain to break. The axial elastic modulus is mainly caused by the taut tie molecules which bridge the amorphous layers between consecutive crystal blocks and thus provide an efficient axial force transmission through the sample. The defects at the ends of microfibrils interrupt this transmission because they contain few if any taut tie molecules connecting the end of microfibril with adjacent fibrillar elements. As a consequence of the small number of such ends, they only marginally reduce the elastic modulus. But as the mechanically weakest areas of the fibrous material, they drastically depress the strength. They fail as soon as the strain concentration upon them reaches their strain to break. The growth and coalescence of resulting microcracks finally lead to bulk fracture as the growing crack reaches critical dimensions.

I understand where you are coming from, but the point still stands, when the object hits something, it needs to apply a force enough to a fracture point to cause the brittle fracture.
However, the object itself cannot apply forces to itself. What happens is that upon collision, there is an equal and opposite reaction (newton's third law of physics) first that causes a rebound stress onto the fracture point and breaking it.
How much force is transferred to the target and back before breaking? That is completely dependent on the material.
Amorphous crystalline monsters made of magic living crystal tend to have a higher fracture toughness. Let's say, close to metals.

Oh xkcd, is there not an aspect of life for which your current comic does not have an immediate application? No, seriously! It's kind of eerie.

Skiing's been moved to Sunday, so I can make it. I'll need a ride though, as my parents will be at my sister's basketball game.

Just for clarification, and to try and keep everything in the other thread In Character, I understand that Rhogar doesn't trust Dawn. She's aware of that as well, after the many times he's blamed her for things outside of her control, but she still wonders why no greater fuss was made over her joining the group.
There may have been some grumbling from Rhogar, some snide comments, but everyone else seems to have just accepted her presence. And on Athas, to Dawn, that means they're either naive, or they're hiding something of great importance.
Motivation-wise, Dawn helped them purely to satisfy her own curiosity. Rarely does one see such a group of people in the Forest Ridge. Between cannibalistic halfling tribes and wild beasts, it is not the ideal vacation spot.
As an ex-slave, constantly on the alert for anyone who might wish to drag her back to Urik, she's quite wary, to say the least.
Now that she's thrust back into the midst of civilization, her motivations will undoubtedly change. I haven't quite figured out what will drive her yet, but I'm hoping that discovering IC what the parties purpose is will lead to something.

My experience with our gaming group has shown me that we usually don't investigate newcomers into the party too deeply. In the past it seems we've been guilty of neglecting what kind of social interaction would/should take place when a stranger shows up. Hopefully this time around there are real, set motives behind all of our actions.

Fixed that for you. Just kidding, but seriously. Davis just became Wagon, remember that? Anyways, Erik, if you're planning on playing this weekend, please PM me your character export from Character Builder, or your base/final stats, feats, powers, and equipment.
