If anyone has something they would like to do in the village of Barovia whilst they are being looked after, recuperating during these winter days let me know. (eg sell shiny stuff, get to know one or two villagers of note ie a Merchant, Innkeeper etc.) Do so now post here what your goals are.

Hope you feel better soon, dude. Get some rest and let us know how you are doing on Saturday. Stay at home, sleep it off. Play D&D. D&D is a pretty good cure for just about anything. Here this is me making you a pot of chicken noodle soup -->

Thanks dude, yeah I am staying inside.
Also if I am unable to run my game, you could run yours if you wanted on Sunday? I may be able to play then, dunno, but right now, I am too dizzy and groggy to run a game.

Right now I am 99% not attending, sorry. I think you should run a game you rewally need to get your RPGA points in. If you need 20pts per season to get a reward.
If I do attend I will have something ready, but will defer to playing if you are intent on DM'ing, its all good to me.
Also its SuperBowl weekend.. maybe some peeps may not turn up.. saying that pretty sure AGR will put their tv on for the game if peeps ask for it.

Last Sunday's game was one of those games where everyone appeared a little sluggish, myself included I was tired and have been run down the last week or so. Anyway, Joseph was the only one with a good excuse, overhung from a night on the wazz! Take the following any way you want, its supposed to be constructive commentary though. I got overzealous in granting certain powers to our transformed 'Wizard' and will probably tone him down a bit more. I seen Gary acting very unlike the old Droz.. which could be understandable, however the control of the battles was too much in my opinion, every pc needs to have a role in the encounters. A whole Necklace of Fireballs was wasted when clearly other options were available.. tsk tsk, think think think... Some pc's were hanging back too much hiding in the Burgomasters house... doing nothing. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Some pc's were not searching for clues properly or at all. Some pc's could have changed the outcome of the encounter, or at least they had a chance to... however it didn't happen until they had finished off slaughtering the Infected villagers, 30 of whom could have been saved. I speak of one being the Book: Liber Blaspheme being read thoroughly and then destroyed. D&D is a game with objectives, each encounter has a set of objectives or challenges hidden or clearly understood by the pc's. The Burgomasters home had been visited in Hluneru by 3 of you. So you guys knew what could potentially happen, as the scene unfolded in a very similar fashion to the dream, you basically did the same thing... History repeats itself. As DM I am neutral in all this though, but sometimes I wish you guys would try to work things out and not give in to combat so easily. So, Always, in the game, 'The actions of the pc's have an effect on what happens next'. Why else play the game? You are creating an Epic story about your exploits as a certain pc in the game world. And the game world reacts to those actions, deeds and exploits. As each one of you does something significant, from my view behind the DM screen, I begin modelling 'potentials' for that character, all based on the roleplay and the amount of change that character makes, the amount of effect that player has on the game world is all noted. There are things going to happen real soon to one more character, then it will be anothers turn and then anothers, the new pc's haven't done much, they have little notoriety or fame... So with all that said; Exp, each character receives; 250exp. Not much I know, but you lost a lot by your actions. * xx amount of Villagers killed(not contained and/or saved). * Burgomaster died. (not protected) * Ireena Kolyana, taken by Strahd. (not protected) * Burgomaster mistreated. (Items stolen/Wine drank & rudeness) Sometimes I react directly to a players actions and suffer them an alignment change, other times I have to reduce exp. This session everyone was involved in the above actions to one extent or another. So finally I have to warn you.. or at least I want to warn you of your characters actions in Ravenloft... but heck, that would spoil all my fun MuHAHAHAHAA!!!

Yeah coming in an hour and a half late probably didn't help. Leaving a door and the chimney un-vampire proofed was something I missed for sure. Even a necklace of garlic might have worked. I'm sure there were other things going on I missed. I know when I first got there and we were holed up I was a bit disoriented not fully realizing everything that was going on till too late. I should have asked more questions before things started happening. I'll take what comes next though. I have some ideas in mind for Graaktor's reaction already. I've always believed the best stories are when the main characters are the most tortured. ;D As for standing and doing nothing, however, that was tactically the best move for us without Durroz's god like powers. Running out in the middle of it would have been a terrible move as we would have been overwhelmed. The best bet was to hang inside and wait it out or fight them a couple at a time as they bottleneck through the door and windows. Plus with all the fireballs and walls of fire going on, probably would have gotten in the way anyhow. You send in troops after you finish bombing not during. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I get, but running out into the middle of a force that so greatly outnumbers you is just plain suicidal and, considering that we were fairly well fortified in the inn, wholly unnecessary. Especially with Durroz there to burninate everything. Upon hearing people drop from the balcony then I started considering going outside for a potential rescue run, but otherwise, inside for us was the best option.

Yeah, I screwed up on Sunday. In the end I went fishing. It's difficult to justify pulling a card from the deck of many things. It turns out I pulled a really powerful card - probably the most powerful in the deck (I am honestly unfamiliar with the cards and I'm refraining from looking them up out of game, because I find it more fun in game if I'm surprised - like my character). I used my power from the card to rescue the girl. Out of game it's because we were presented with an immediate challenge: rescue Bavona(?). I went fishing in the deck for a solution and found one. I could have used that power for anything under the Sun (and beyond), but I was focused on rescuing the girl. That's a good result, and I'm proud to have rescued her. However, I also recognize one of my shortcoming as a player - that I'm shortsighted. It takes me a long time to think things through, and I don't like to jump to conclusions (I still don't even think we have enough evidence to believe that Count von Zarovich is a vampire). That is reflected in my character. Therefore, Finnegan can be shortsighted. If there is one thing to learn from D&D its that it teaches us about ourselves. Search for the higher self. All that said? Vince, if you throw a horde of zombies at us and my only viable attack/defense is a necklace of fireballs - I'm gonna start hurling some flame! OK I could have motivated our fellow companions to read the book more - I get it, I get it.

Yeah we all messed up, I gave Droz game imbalancing powers. I just had to let you guys know why you got so little exp, I have to reduce the amounts due to objectives not being met and objectives that cause an effect, you could say a bad effect, cause a negative return on the exp. And to remind you that you knew what to do, from being in the Dream, but didn't act on it properly. Actually hiding in the house was a good idea, it was just one player walking around leaving doors open and allowing the light from a candle to be seen by the Infected Zombie villagers... anyone seen 30 Days of Night...? The House would have been surrounded but no crossing of the thresholds, the Harpies would have been upstairs,...then something else would have happened probably and the Zombies downstairs outside would become an objective to over come. Remember Hluneru = Dream Story... Is all that we see or seem, but a dream within a dream...
