Yes, you all died.
The tribe of kobolds, led by a fierce, tattooed goblin were able to withstand the party's heroic (but ultimately pitiful and futile) raid upon their lair. Many kobolds gave their lives in the service of their goblin leader Irontooth, and his unknown masters. Irontooth's band, now significantly weakened, must spend a little time rebuilding and recruiting before they can once again go raiding for treasures.
Douven Staul is still missing . . .
Meanwhile, Falkirth Tinton, the rescued eladrin arrived in Winterhaven and met with his niece. It appears, however, this glimmer of hope for Winterhaven is just a mirage, as dark clouds begin to brew to the north . . . around the Keep on the Shadowfell.

Hehe I had a blast thursday night. But the TPK probably could have been avoided had we approached the encounter differently. The next party, we definitely need to work on tactics. Monsters in 4ed are tougher and meaner meaning we have to approach encounters as a unit as opposed to "everybody pick a guy and go to town" like we usually do. That last encounter the party was split up all over the place and it hurt. I'm definitely partly to blame because I wasn't exactly running a team player. My next guy will be better. (team-wise. Moral-wise? hmmm... ) Focus fire. Minions aside, whichever enemy gets hit first the rest of the team should focus damage as much as possible on him till he's dead. Generally, an opponent at 1 hit point deals just as much damage as an opponent at full health. No more glory hogs like Tiax. This also means moving as a group. No charging off on your own. Once we see the enemy don't leave anyone behind to charge in. If they aren't using ranged weapons we could even hang back and hold a formation that protects the clothies and let them approach us. In the first encounter Kyle did exactly that with the kobolds and ended up having a combat advantage bonanza on Phil. "Maximum Flankage" as Miles would say. I think my next guy is gonna be a lock again. Just much less insane. I'll still plan on playing a somewhat forceful personality, but a much more reasonable one who thinks before he acts. And much less "chatty" too.

Here is Hawk's new quest. Find the body of his master. What the DM doesn't know is that the onyx talisman hanging from Tiax's neck was actually a phylactery of great power that stored the essence of Tiax's being. All Hawk needs to do is find the phylactery, commune with it, and then find a hapless soul to unleash the essence of Tiax upon transforming the great Tiax into an all powerful Lich! And from there Tiax will finally have gained the power to show the world the true meaning of fear and domination! And Hawk shall be granted his own corner of the newly conquered planet and possibly even given the gift of undeath so he too can be a master of the undead and raise his own army of darkness to bolster the power and strength of the almighty omnipotent Tiax!!!
.... That or he dies of starvation and fatigue because Tiax's last command to Hawk was "stay here and watch the road until I return"...

LOL... well actually I was thinking more along the lines of bringing back his head and placing in atop a hidden shrine someplace and praying to it..

oh oh oh! I'll do you one better! Do that but instead of enshrining it somewhere, have it embalmed or preserved or whatever and then carry it around with you for worship on the go! You could even take a cleric or paladin multiclass feat and use it as a holy implement!
