As far as the extra points related to my demoted Grav control are concerned Joseph, they're a part of my device. They're not "real" power points that go toward the build of the character. The device was purchased with power points and granted a certain amount of points to allocate to powers. Just so you know...

I never stated I had a problem with linked attacks. If you spend power points in something that's fine. But calculating the toughness of a grenade casing to eek out some extra damage is overboard. But like I said, linked powers would be the same thing. And I could just RP it that way if you think me buying the grenade with PP is too extravagant.

Linked powers are NOT the same thing, as Stephen pointed out due to PP cost. If you want to spend the points and RP it that way because you just HAVE to squeeze out every tiny bit of damage you can find, then go for it.
I'm kind of over this argument, because ultimately if you are going to run a grenade slinger, I am not gonna say no. If you have a power that can add some extra velocity to the grenade then we'll see what you come up with, but a human being tossing a regular grenade is generally going to get one damage roll... the explosion.
My biggest concern is too much focus on number stacking. Something I'd like to get away from a bit. Ask yourself do you really need something because otherwise your character won't work or are you just adding extra badass just because it happens to be in the rules.
Ultimately though, build a character and present it. We'll discuss it from there. Again I am going to be exerting some control over character creation, which I realize none of you are used to in even the slightest bit. You are just going to have to trust that whatever slight modifications I make are not going to ruin your character theme, and they will not make your character "suck."

A little guidance would be cool, but most of our designs seem "streamline" - save for Yulis with his Morph power, Toshi with his Concealment power, and possibly Michael with his X-ray vision. Those choices seem a little on the convenient side. You just named over half the party. I'm also thinking that magic is extremely powerful unmodified due to its versatility. In the future I might require more limitations on it's use. Stuff like longer casting times or specific preparations. We'll see how Gilbert's guy goes for now.

Stuff like longer casting times or specific preparations. We'll see how Gilbert's guy goes for now. Depending on the nature of the power and on our RP skills to explain how we can use that power, the versatility of Magic can be achieved with other powers. Here are some iconic examples: Green Lantern's power ring, Invisible Woman's object generation, Telekinesis/Telepathy, Element Control, Ironman's battlesuit, Batman's utility belt, etc. So I guess what I'm trying to say is we might need some guidelines on how much we can do with our powers.

Exactly Stephen. Even Doctor Strange, Sorcere Supreme, can't pull a lot of his "tricks" out on a whim. For now, I'm just gonna watch how Gilbert's dude goes and just play it by ear.

You (Joseph) basically went ahead and said that linked powers are ok. Conceptually they do the same thing. If I went ahead and did a Blast:Blast(Area) power, I could just write my own filler text on the description of it being a baseball that I pitched or batted at you. Could you argue that? Is it really min maxing? Think about already how much we have put aside for our characters for RP and then also look at how lucky we have been in some encounters to be able to defeat them. Bad news Phil, Linked powers of the same type cannot be Linked. Page 112 under Linked, very first sentence: "This modifier applies to two or more powers of different types." So if you look at the Effect portion of each power, some say General, others say Sensory, then others say Attack, etc. We can't "stack" powers with the same Effect. Here's some extra proof for those who need it: atomicthinktank.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=34375&p=602756&hilit=+linked+damage+#p602756. The thread loses itself a little, but the point is there. UP lightens the restriction on Linked powers, but still forbids Linking Damage with Damage. So in short, you can't do Blast:Blast[area]. Joseph 1 : Stephen/Phil 0... You win this day Joseph...

Stephen - arguement still applies under linked powers of other sources. For example, Blast:Dazzle. It's the same issue.

Yes but the whole point of the argument was that you wanted to deal double damage with a single shot. This in specific was my biggest concern. Number stacking to squeeze out every extra inch of damage from the rules possible. However I have no problem with a flashbang to the head doing damage AND blinding you.

Heh, just realized a megaman type character is possible with the Mimic power. There are so many cool things I want to try in this game >.<

I'm a little confused... if the PRA knows about Yulis, why haven't they approached him? Are they scared? If a high profile figure vanishes, would it paint them in a bad light? It looks like I have a weird form of diplomatic immunity.
