Huh interesting, I didn't read the article, but damn, no divine classes at all, huh? Was thinking someone might play a runepriest but i guess that is out the door.
If anyone DOES want to play a divine class, I am open to allowing it, though we will have to discuss options for "gods", and give out some homebrewed channel divinities. Though if you're leaning this route, you HAVE to ask me first before just picking a class.

Btw - I would love for you guys to pass me your ideas or ask if certain races or things outside of the general are allowed. You know I love the rp, but you know I also like to make sure that it will all fit.

Well, once I know what's in and what's not I'll pass you some of my ideas.

Several ideas/questions:
Would you have any qualms with us playing races that aren't the main ones listed in the DS book but not necessarily extinct? My character design is still very fluid right now but some racial options I was considering outside the DS norm was possibly a Kalashtar, a Wilden, or a Shifter.
I saw no rules in character creation regarding starting equipment for the DS setting. So what rules are you going to lay down on us concerning starting gold, equipment selection, etc since we are starting at level 2?
Have you looked at the start of the prepared adventure? It would be nice if we can have a very high level plot hook so we can kind of give our characters reason to be at a certain location that's needed to get the adventure started; being in the city-state of Tyr would be my first guess.
Otherwise, maybe we could have homebrew that leads us to forming a party and then we segue into the adventure. I really don't like situations were we all just happen to be in the same place at the same time; like saying we're all captured slaves being transported to the city of Draj when our freedom is granted to us by collateral damage from a sudden attack by a raiding party on the caravan. Party formation seems a little forced at that point. Even though it should inevitably happen, it would be nice to have RP forge a bond, or at least a mutual agreement, for working together.

Kalashtar don't exist in this world. Eberron SPecific race. I haven't fully decided yet, but I'm leaning towards just 100gp AND 1 magic item (of course non metal). Your starting RP always is up to you and can hook with other players if you want, you would need to talk to them. You guys could be mercenaries following a caravan or something of the like. I'll take a look at the adventure over the weekend.

Kalashtar don't exist in this world. Eberron SPecific race. The Kalashtar are mentioned in the book on page 30, saying that they are a psionically adept subset of humans and most of them are indistinguishable from humans. However, the book does consider them a race in small numbers so I guess our "version" of Athas could be without them.

Hmm... I'm considering making a thri-kreen. So I "acquired" the 2nd edition book Thri-Kreen of Athas that is 132 pages detailing their nature. They have no lips... meaning they can't make the sounds represented by the letters p, b, f, v, m. This might be somewhat of a challenge to RP And interestingly enough, since they only live to be about 30, they reach adult hood at the age of 4.

so 100 gp and 1 magic non metal item still gonna allow 4d6 reroll 1s on stats? if no 18 can change one to 18?
or should we use a standard array?
Also for item choosing are we limited to the items in the book or can we choose non metal items from av or av2 and happen to have come across it in our travels?
Was also thinking instead of wish lists what about giving basic items in encounters, and they grow with us, so basically its vanilla (or mainly vanilla) but alter using it for x amount it will gain whatever ability you see fit for it etc.
"you want boots of the fencing master?" then have them become a fencing master haha, earn those items.

You guys are Mercs or travelers in the city state of Tyr at the beginning of this adventure. If you guys choose to have worked together prior, feel free to message eachother or let it be known when we get started.

You guys are Mercs or travelers in the city state of Tyr at the beginning of this adventure. If you guys choose to have worked together prior, feel free to message eachother or let it be known when we get started. Does the adventure give a timetable on how long Tyr has been free and under its new King Tithian? One way or the other, it'll just add a slightly different spice to the flavor of the RP for my being in Tyr. Which is in high level bullet form btw, so expect a full drawn backstory pretty soon depending on how much free time I have in the next day or two. Oh, and if anyone belongs to the elemental priests or primal guardians there is possibility for a shared past. Less so if you are a member of the veiled alliance, still possible but would rely more heavily on the details of our RP. Lastly, if you happen to roam outside the seven city states there is room for a chance encounter if you're up for some RP connectivity with me before the campaign starts.

It would be present day. So there is still a power struggle in Tyr, but tyr is still considered free.

Not sure where it labels when Kalak has been overnthrown but Tithian would have had power for,w hat i assume more than just a few months. Perhaps almot a year? Though if the book contradicts that, then meh.
I only assume this because Tithian has his own justice system already in place but is still slowly gaining the reigns of the city.
