That's about right. Gwen is quite set on leaving, but I am willing to see how events play out before making the decision Out of Character. Perhaps Gwen's motivations will change, but in case they don't, I'll continue to work on the Wizard. I'm currently caught between three races, but that's only because I haven't really looked at any others. Included in this post is the Tiefling build.
EDIT:I don't know if this format will work with the Browser-based Character Builder, but all I have access to is the client based one.

Okay, I'm definitely respecing to Hexblade. I'm amazed at how well "the feel" of this class is similar to what I was trying to acheive with my Avenger|Swordmage; I don't have to jump through so many hoops (it's less contrived).
I'm losing out on Wisdow (now a dump stat) and even the option to select Perception as a class skill, so that's tanked. I do pick up Thievery, Stealth, and Intimidate and have to multiclass in order to have both Athletics and Endurance; Arcana remains!

Will you be taking one of the Fey Pacts?

No, I am set on Star Pact; besides the mechanical benefit of having racial bonuses match up, it is fitting considering that my diety is Corellon.

Ah, neat. I haven't seen the Star Pact Hexblade yet.
Though, I'm guessing you'll be refluffing the powers seeing as the pact generally involves the character's power being granted by Far Realm entities?

There are a few options I'm chewing on with regard to whom Aeron makes his pact.
- The Corellite herald from the backstory I've written is a potential candidate. The Azure Star, the symbol of Corellon, Aeron's diety, may have a thread worth exploring.
- Siberys, or some aspect of Siberys might provide inspiration.
- I'm looking at Student of Caiphon as a PP and reflavoring it for this campaign; it makes reference to Caiphon as a purple star. Since Cyre, the nation in which Shaelas Tiraleth resides, was called the Purple Jewel of Galifar I might find some way to tie that into the pact.
- Caiphon is also called the Dream Whisperer: in Eberron there is a feyspire called Taer Lian Doresh, the Fortress of Fading Dreams, which might be a source of a patron.
David, I actually meant to send these thoughts to you, via PM, to see if there is a way to tie the pact to the story you're trying to tell and to my character simultaneously. We can discuss here or over PM. I want to know your thoughts or preferences, if you have any.

Interesting. It's cool to see that you've put so much thought into this.
In any case, I have a question concerning the changes in skills that our characters undergo. How would they view this? Would they realize that something that had defined who they were (How they fought) has changed?
Or will the journey through the mists send out a ripple, tailoring past events to better fit these new heroes that emerge back into the world?

What about memories? Will we retain our memories of the previous reality (e.g. Ambassador Spock in the Star Trek reboot)?
If we have lost our memories, knowing as much will help us, as players, prepare (so as to avoid long silences) to interact under such conditions, though I do see the merit in not telling us until the next session. Having already lost his memories, this would merely be the three years Aeron'eth has spent in Eberron. It would be kind of humorous, though, if he lost his memory again; it's a good thing he's kept a journal of events. Maybe he should be renamed Sammy Jankis or Leonard.

As I began writing this post I found myself exploring some of the devices commonly used in stories involving alternate realities or parallel universes and it felt very much like meta-gaming. Because of this, I deleted the bulk of my post and its questions and only included one that would be immediately relevant to the next session, our arrival in Sharn. I would encourage everyone to avoid asking questions about how people, places, or events have changed in Eberron so that we can explore those things organically.

Would it be more useful to the party to have a ranged striker of some sort, or should I stick with a melee build?
Right now I'm looking respec Gwenn into a Barbarian, perhaps representing the latent anger and resentment she holds against the main house and the way her family has been pushed to the side because they had no manifested mark in their midst.

Hey guys, I've been at a conference the past two days, so I'm playing catch up here.
Zach - I don't think the ranged/melee distinction is going to unbalance the party. Play what you want.
David - Why did you suggest not using a heavy/light blade combo? The tempest technique +1 to damage applies as long as I am weilding two-weapons. There is an additional +1 for off-hand weapons (to balance the fact that they are a damage die smaller). Also I took the Master-At-Arms feat from essentials (+1 attack to all weapon attack rolls) to replace weapon specialization. I suppose if I stuck with two off-hand weapons of similar type I could take the type-specific expertise feat, which grants an additional benefit. But, meh, this seemed cool.

If it's not going to be a problem, then I think I'll stick with the Thaneborn Barbarian.
As to what he was talking about, there are two bonuses conferred by Tempest technique outside of Two-Weapon Defense.
First is the +1 to hit only which applies to weapons with the off-hand property, and only when wielding two at the same time. The damage bonus, however, applies at all times so long as you're wearing Chainmail or lighter. This +1 bonus to damage increases to +2 for weapons with the off-hand property; as you said, this is to off-set the lower damage die.
I don't know if this is exactly what he was referring to, but I felt I should try to clarify what Tempest technique does anyway.

Yeah, that's correct. If I wanted to max my attack bonus, I'd use two-short swords. But if I want to increase my average damage by 1 pt, I'd use the larger more 'inaccurate' sword:
relative to longsword's attack bonus:
short sword +1 1d6+2 avg: 5.5 longsword +0 1d8+1 avg: 5.5 broadsword/battleaxe -1 1d10+1 avg: 6.5 bastard sword (superior) +0 1d10+1 avg: 6.5
edit: Oh, also the light blade expertise is pretty cool, because it gives an extra damage point with combat advantage - maybe I will stick with the light blades for now. Watcher should have enough maneuverability to get CA pretty frequently. Also, vanguard can be any weapon, so I'll be looking for one of those. And maybe some mithril finemail. Shopping should be done next session, I suppose.

I'm not entirely sure of this one, but I'll take a look at the build. Can you make Gwen the Thaneborn Barbarian feel like the same character as Gwen the Rogue? Edit: Also, is it Gwen or Gwenn?
