Guys,
I am not totally sure what your plan is for the immediate future. I know Phil will be running a D&D Starter Set game on July 20, and you'll probably be getting together for some games this Sunday, June 22. That means there are 3 Sundays between wherein I don't know exactly what your plans are. And I think David will be moving, yes?
I would be willing to put in the work to run a D&D Next game on Roll20 during 1, 2, or 3 of those weeks (Sat or Sun). I've played on Roll20 now a few times and it works pretty well. I would need a commitment from 3-5 players for the game to be interesting. Roll20 recently implemented character sheets, which is pretty cool and makes the barrier to entry smaller - and yes there is one for D&D Next.
The time difference between Chile and California right now is 3 hours. I propose scheduling about a 4-hour block of time on either Saturday or Sunday starting in early afternoon for you guys.
Let me know if you would be interested, or if you guys just want a break from gaming for a few weeks before Phil's game on July 20.
Players
June 29 1. Phil 2. Joseph 3. Stephen
July 6 1. Phil 2. Stephen 3. Micah 4. David

Not to speak for them, but I think David and Micah were also interested but haven't posted yet.

Yup, I'm sticking with my every-other-week schedule, though, so I'd be present for the 6th.
Will we be utilizing the the DnDN rules that Phil posted?

Yay! good to hear!
If you guys just want to do a game on the 6th, that's fine with me. If there is more interest, we can do every week. I'm happy with either. Yes, we will be using the last D&D Next playtest packet. The documents I have are dated Sep 19, 2013, with an updated classes document from October 14, 2013.
If/when we hear from David and any others, we can finalize the date and time of the meetup.

I think I'll make it an adventure for level 5 characters. That way everyone will have a good number of class features, and I can make an interesting encounter or two with a range of creatures.
Yes, I'll allow multi-classing. I'd like to see how it works out. I'll limit it to only one extra class, so your character can only have two classes total. I just don't want things to be too complicated.
FYI - The monsters in the playtest are not balanced, some hit hard and some are pansies. Some are kinda dull. I think one of the things I'm really excited about is actually the upcoming monster manual. I really hope the monsters will be interesting. I thought 4e monsters were mostly unique and interesting.

I could play this Sunday as well.
I think i'll make a ranger/rogue. Though it's interesting if you multiclass you lose access to the extra attack.

Ranger/Rogue is one of my fav multiclasses. Can't wait to see what you have.
OK. Well if David is interested and available this Sunday, then let's set up something for then. If there is continued interest we can also play on the sixth with Micah.
BTW - I have heard rumor that Basic D&D character creation will actually release on the 3rd of July. Apparently Wizard Play Network stores get the starter set that day as well, with the general release two weeks later. So, maybe we'll have a free pdf of characters (fighter, wizard, rogue, cleric) on July 3 - maybe.

So exciting, no character builder, just P&P. I'm looking at full fighter or monk, but still haven't decided for certain, MC seems fun too.

Yeah, i'm torn. I lose extra attack... but i'll gain sneak attack, which would only be useful for if we have a tank or something since sneak attack now procs if you have advantage OR you have an ally next to your enemy. @_@
Also tempted to do Ranger/Mage for arcane archery...

Kyle, do you have any race restrictions?

Kyle, do you have any race restrictions? Yes - please stick with the basic 4 + half-elf, half-orc, or gnome. (i.e., no drow, warforged, dragonborn, or tiefling) Character sheets - On Roll20 there are character sheets. I am going to recommend that we use those, because they include buttons for checks and attacks that include relevant modifiers in the macros. You can also create additional macros, but that might be too advanced for us at this stage. Of course you are welcome to keep your own character sheet on paper, but most checks/attacks should be resolved in the interface. I will invite you to the game on Roll20 and you can fill in the character sheet that I will assign to you. I can do that later tonight. In order to do it, please PM me an email address where your Roll20 is registered. If you are not yet registered, you can register when I send you the invite.
