Please post character histories and descriptions here. The more you give me the more I can incorporate into future stories. I'll have a recent events page up soon so if anyone wants a character to already be right in the thick of the events that have occurred thus far, just wait. Or you can just be a traveler from a distant place stumbling into the wrong place at the wrong time.
And no double dipping character names. This means you Phil. If you play a character named Rounce again I swear to you I will smite him. And rip up the sheet. And piss on the scraps. Every DM has their quirks. Mine is I like people to challenge themselves. Or at least steal from Buffy The Vampire slayer, call it a different name, and pretend you are being original hoping no one notices.
Other than that power away people. Unless you fuck up the rules. In which case I shall smite thee.
Oh, and there is a section of the DM guide that say never take out real world issues with your players in game on their respective characters. I don't play by that rule. You've been warned. Odin's smite hammer is cocked, ready, and its been awhile!
Level 5 characters.

Starting gear is as per the DM guide. One item +1 your level, one item equal to your level, and one item -1 your level. Starting gold equal to an item -1 your level that you may use to purchase additional equipment.
Also feel free to PM me a wish list of items you'd like to discover. I won't guarantee that you'll get what you specifically ask for, but at least I'll have a better idea what you want your character to look like. If you don't ever get what is on your wish list you will someday find an item that should still make you quite happy.

I have a couple characters in mind, and I can't decide which to go with. I'll look over the powers and such to see which I like better. Then I'll post something regarding my next character.

IMPORTANT CHANGE!!!!
6 level characters. You may change your starting gear and gold accordingly if you have already made your character. I'm advancing the story a bit further along to make sure the encounters stay as appropriate as possible. My original jumping off point would have had the party a bit advanced. Sucks to be you.

No hard date yet. At the latest first Sunday of February. Could be sooner, but not by much.

7 4 4 is fine. You can pick items under the level cap, just not over.

Phil set a new record for back story I think.
Here's one I came up with for my character, Tenebrae. I'll post it in three parts. Please enjoy.

Crucisept, 10 years ago.
Who am I? I am Thagladon Heironious.
"Drink?"
"Bay Water." His voice was gruff as the five-day beard that clung to his face. Gray sprouted from his temples.
"What's your name fella? I haven't seen you around here before."
"Thagladon. I just came in on the The Maid's Secret. I'm looking for work."
"Well, I know a couple captains looking to hire an extra hand." The barkeep motioned toward a corner table where a group of sea dogs were gambling their ships away on cards and dice.
"No, I'm done with sea life. I need something more grounded."
"Hmm, you don't look like the farming type . . ."
"Thagladon! You dirty sea rat!" A chair flew across the room and shattered into the wall by the fire. The man strode boldly toward Thagladon and drew a wide bladed bowie knife.
"I don't want any trouble Fracus. I'm just drinkin my ale."
"You don't want any trouble. You don't want any trouble!" He spat every word. "I told you that if you showed your face in this town again I'd gut you, you filthy, slime-ridden son of a seaside whore!"
Thagladon grabbed Fracus by the collar and pulled him in close. Their noses almost touched. His salt seasoned face grinned with gritted yellowed teeth, "Then let me show you another face, you dog fucker."
His face began to shape and change. It slowly morphed into a mirror of Fracus's own thinner, scarred, freckled and blue eyed visage. Even his hair grew and darkened to a deep brown. Fracus's eyes went wide.
"What the-?" his voice was cut off as Thagladon grabbed the bowie knife and shoved it deep into Fracus's neck. Blood erupted forth, drenching Thagladon's hands and splashing onto the bar. Fracus fell to the floor grabbing at his neck, mouth gaping like a fish.
With the whole bar silent and watching, Thagladon, with the face of Fracus, pulled out 10 gold for the barkeep. "Sorry about the mess." He grabbed Fracus's body, dragged it outside and discarded it in the gutter. Thagladon then ducked into a dark alley way, washed his hands in a barrel collecting rain water. He flicked up his coat collar and strolled away.
Hmm, well I suppose I'm not Thagladon anymore. He let his face relax to its natural featureless, almost ghost-like visage and white hair. Who am I? He walked on down the street toying with the ideas. Subtle changes came over his face, with many incarnations before settling down.
"Stop!" He had nearly walked into the three guards on the street. "Have you seen anyone unusual around here? We've had a report of a murder at The Trident."
"No sir, I was just going for an evening stroll. I am headed home now."
"In the rain?"
"Oh I enjoy the rain. We don't get out much at The Mez, sir. What with our studies and all."
"Student at the academy, huh? What's your name?"
"Etoile. Argent Etoile, sir."
"Alright, get going, Argent. Watch out though, it could be dangerous out tonight."
Hmm, student at the academy? I like that. Maybe I should enroll . . .

North Tower, Accaemia della Torretta, Crucisept, 2 years ago
"Argent, we're headed back down now. Are you coming?"
"No, I'll think I'll stay up here a while. I like to track the stars through the sky."
Argent was in his last year of study at the Accaemia della Torretta, named so because it was composed of several towers. The masters called them the pillars of knowledge. The students called the place The Mez. Not only was it on the Mezzanine, the land between the rivers Lenil and Penetos where they met the sea in Crucisept, but it also represented the time in their lives between childhood and adulthood.
Argent laid for hours on the roof. He watched the stars pass between the clouds. He watched the clouds grow thicker. He felt the rain as it began to fall. Maybe it was the fungal tea they had, but the rain felt strange to him. It felt very heavy, as if pummeling him into the tower stones beneath. Or was there really any rain at all? He could still see the stars beyond the clouds. Then he began to melt. His body lost shape all together and dissolved into a large formless puddle. And just as the clouds broke and the stars revealed themselves once more, he began to rain. He rained upward into the sky.
He flew far beyond the planets, beyond the stars and the nebulae. He flew to the vast space between, the Void. And when he had traveled so far that all the light from all sources was so far from him so as not to be perceived, he became one with the void. It was there he became a contradiction. It was there he condensed back into his solid self. It was there that he was one with Universe. Suddenly he could see everything, be everywhere and know everything. He had understanding, and power - great power. And he liked it.
But then, like a fish on a line, he was jerked back to his body on the tower, beneath the stars. He slowly stood up and discovered a great man of shadow standing beside him.
He seemed to speak directly to Argent's mind, "I am the Void. I know all, because I am the space between. I exist everywhere and experience everything. I know you; I know your real name. You are darkness, and you are mine, because I am you. I can teach you, but you must give yourself over to the emptiness, to the Void."
"By Sehanine and Ioun, I have never known such madness as has just come over me. I will seek the higher truths. I will seek the darkness."
The man of shadow reached out and embraced Argent, melding and becoming one with him.
It is time I left the Mez. Who am I? I am Tenebrae.
