The stars dimmed the night I was born and a vision of an elf was burned into my mind at birth. My parents told me they thought they saw a spirit Engulf me at birth but all I had to show from this was this birthmark on my wrist. My parents loved me and always encouraged me, They had not know that the curse placed upon them years ago would not transfer to their children. Alas they were gnomes cursed to be elves for mocking an elven gypsy. They came to this village as refugees but quickly became a prominent member of the society within months. My eyes seemed much darker than the rest of my family there was barely a shine of light reflecting off my eyes. It was an awkward shock then I realized my eyes were engulfed in shadows as my parents never really told me the I was their only true son and that all my siblings were adopted children from those whom had left for wars past. I had thought I was just a mere runt compared to the other elves in my family. I never really knew I was different yet I seemed to show my age fairly faster than my brothers and sisters and it somewhat bothered me that they all outgrew me by the age of nine. But I seemed to still be growing stronger with them feeling I have not hit my prime yet I often played tricks upon them as siblings rather, nothing harmful just fun tricks, especially since i had learned I can turn invisible during one of our sword fights.
Caravans seemed to pass by a nearby area all to much. Many of the village were afraid that our haven would be found and we would have to relocate. I played along a river and found several shiny stones along the riverbed and thought it would be worth a trade with any of the travelers passing by. I gathered as many as I could carry in hopes to trade for something that is interesting. Dodging around quickly going from tree to tree through the forest and I stood in awe as I saw a clearing with an oddly shaped pyramid of dark energy in the center. To my surprise I saw a band of adventures emerging from the opposite side of the clearing…
Flashbacks of that elf seen at my birth crossed my mind as I stared at the band noticing that rearing the party the elf looked astonishingly like the one I have seen in my mind since birth. I waited watching for a few minutes nervously wondering if I should approach them. Shaking off my nerves and hoping they were not hostile since they did not seem like a band of thieves I dashed for the tree line to call out to them when the dark energy started to expand and out of fear I rushed out and away and thought never to think about it again until my fifty ninth birthday when I saw what I thought to be the elf in my mind in Fall crest once again as I wandered the marketplace in search of some exotic metals.
It seemed The Mages of Sarune had just begun their reign over fall crest while one said I was a vessel. The first time I had met them I shrugged off the fact not knowing what gibberish they has talked about. I continued on with my life… not even a year passed when this message from the oracle arrived in my hands and I had to set forth to venture back to Fall crest. I welcomed this adventure … Thinking back on my life leading to this point…
As a young elf I was shunned for my eyes were unnatural and there had not been anyone born with a birthmark for centuries so they saw it as an evil omen. Growing up, as the years passed by, seemed harder and harder as I did not grow taller at all and I seemed to age faster then everyone around me. My parents assured me I would have a growth spurt but to this day I still await the day for that to come. Being the only runt in the village I was constantly picked on and the target of mysterious events always ending with me winding up in the healers ward. My tan skin seemed to grey over the years and I had become even more of an outcast, but I loved my parents and did not have the heart to leave them. My skin grew thick, I learned to take a beating, and as long as my parents did not come of harm I was happy. I traded with local caravans passing nearby and gain a lot of oddities that were interesting. Manuals on the art of fighting, Books on weaponry, and techniques that many hear about but few master. Learning bits and pieces from all the books I worked training jumping around on courses I set to see just how fast I could do them. Learning of styles of armor and learning the properties of the items I had traded fro in the past. Years passed by and they grew weary of picking on me since I never gave them the satisfaction of cowering at the thought of getting punched but refrained from hurting them to keep my parents safe from the ridicule I thought I would bring upon them if I went with my urge to hurt them. I was never able to outrun them I just learned to take the ridicule, the poking, and the torment of those who did not know me.
But all that changed the night my parents disappeared. Not seeing their warm loving faces. Not being able to embrace them. Not being able to confide in anyone…. Alone …. In a village full of elves…. Alone….
Rage filled my thoughts, who could have taken them? Why were they taken? Are they hurt?
I rushed to the elders of the village seeking their advice but as I approached I was shunned and the only elder I knew, the one I was named after, Looked at me and grimaced as he said “Your parents are no longer here and you are not of Elvin blood So we have nothing to say to you, leave before the next moon rises.” and turned away entering the building.
I was distraught, I sat in my room trying not to think of what had happened and worried of the future. My parents would have wanted me to live and not mourn them for I know I will join them son enough. I gathered my most prized possessions and waited. Thinking of what is to come. Why was I being treated as an outsider... Why have they all turned on me…? Time passed faster than I thought and the guards were entering my home, defiling my parent’s home, searching….for me… and I did what I swore never to do…
Blindly raged harming everyone in my path shaking off the damage from their counter attacks as I fought my way through the village leaving them bloodied and prone where they stood. I looked back at the village one last time and saw the destructive damage and realized all the blood I shed that night and took one last deep breath as I left never planning to return…
Alas my travels took me far and wide I had learned of my origin and found that I was a gnome. Although our features are similar I was actually normal for a gnome, well as normal as looks went… I found they avoided conflict yet I seemed to oppose any conflict that came my way. Did I have something to prove? I could never tell, nor did I care anymore I just went on with my business…
Back to the matter at hand… The Oracle is known far and wide, I cannot refuse her summons and maybe she can explain with her divine sight why my birthmark glowed bright blue months ago as if there was something mystical bonded to me through this symbol of my birth.

The book looks normal, a bit worn down, a leather binding yet scribbled across the top in elven was the name Bastion....
I had arrived back at Fall crest, tis been a good year since I had come by this way I believe....
The guards posted at every city gate, just as I had remembered it. I walked up to guard and ask, " I have come hearing the call of this summons, where may I find this place?". The guard pointed to the north and replied " head to the center of town to the north you can not miss it" I nodded and proceeded north.
I stopped as I came to what seemed to be the center of town, Twas walled off from the rest of town and guards once again posted, yet people walked in and out freely. I once again walked to a posted guard and ask, "Where can I find this person?" as I pointed to the summons. The guard gave it a once over and noted the Oracle was whom I questioned and replied, " The atrium sir" as he pointed off to a building.
I wandered to the building and entered. The plant life was indeed amazing. It seemed they had gathered so many varieties in one place. Glancing around I did not see anyone at first, but then I noticed an desk with a masked man sitting fumbling with papers as I noticed an elven painter painting behind him. She seemed calm and collected yet she seemed not satisfied with her work as I watched her splash paint and begin anew.
I walked up to the masked man. "Are you the person whom summoned me?". "Ah a hero of old he motioned toward the elven painter. I am Orin-tor ..."
As the tree of us conversed I concluded the oracle was the blind elf. i was curious to how she was painting... yet she said we must wait for there are many more heroes of old that shall come to the cause.
I plopped down on the floor watching the oracle paint. Someone came by and offered me a chair but I waved them away and told them I was fine and gazed at the painting and foliage around me. I could have sworn I saw myself being painted as she splashed paint on it and began once again.
As time flew by my mind feeling calm perked as I heard Orin-tor talk to a young horned boy and overhearing he was a hero of old.
Suddenly a scout burst into the room yelling about a demon ravaging Rafters. Orin-tor looked weary and the oracle insisted that we wait for more heroes of old but as Orin-tor looked at us we knew we must help this city. The oracle said it would be very dangerous but I watched Orin-tor said "I have been working on some ancient magic to aid you." With a few words spoken chaos broke out as all these people appeared carrying pieces of armor. all of them darting back and forth as they placed it upon the scroll which laid before Orin-tor. The runes inscribed upon the scroll dimly glowed, but as each piece was laid upon it it grew brighter. In amazement I watched as the pieces flew into the air and the bright glowing parchment seemed almost to blind me with glowing energy. the pieces flew together and binded but as the last piece flew into place a the glow from the parchment dimmed but the glow from this gem in the armor's chest grew brighter and in an instant all the pieces seemed to be sucked into the gem. He handed me the gem and I was unsure what to do with it, but he said it will aid us.
He summon Donovan, who rushed in the room wearing armor which clanked as he ran from it being far to large, "I am ready this time~!"
Orin-tor motioned for us to follow. we entered a room with a glowing circle inscribed upon the floor. Flipping the gem the suit of armor appeared and seemed connected to out minds.
Donovan began the teleportation ritual. As we appeared in Rafters, a bit blinded from the lights of the teleportation circle a flurry of townspeople flooded in all looking as if feared.
The Doors shattered and fell apart and demons entered the room.
Battle ensued. The young boy fired a bolt at the leading demon and the demon yelped in pain as he shouted the demons focused upon him and I engaged them as much as I could.
As the battle ended a bit weary we took a short rest to gather our breath and Donovan told us the circle was misaligned and would only work one way so he must stay to repair it. I nodded and as we were about to leave another bright flash of light appeared as we turned we see a towering Goliath before us. Khita asked a few questions I quietly stood ready whatever the case may be but it seemed it was a hero of old that had arrived shortly after we had left.
We quickly turned back to the town to aid in the demon suppression. looking down the streets I had felt a connection to the magical presence toward my right but the burning ichor toward the left caused the Goliath Nathan to hurry and head toward it, so I followed.
We entered a town crossing where a goblin strapped to the teeth with potions was tossing potions and defenders were protecting the city. We engaged in battle aiding as much as we could.
As the battle finished the goblin was about to run off but turned as khita asked about potions, and replied " I am always open for business". But the question was more so if he could aid us with potions the goblin thought for a moment tossed a potion toward khita and said I will remember you come back again and ran off.
We followed the goblin to aid him but he was far to quick and we stopped noticing screams from a burning building. a shop keeper ran out the door and pleaded " Save my store~!" and someone pop out of a fallen carriage and yelled" Stop the looting let us take care of these nuisances" and 3 humanoid creatures appeared from the buildings.
The battle went on but a wave of water poured out of the shop and the shopkeep burst out, with a wave of his hand a scroll came out of his pack and he summed what looked like a dragon of pure fire to harm a bleeding creature. worn out from the ritual he paused to gain is breath and later summoned a pike of ice to skewer another.
weary we took a moment to catch our breath, I seemed battle weary and looked around...
To be continued next entry...

The battle for this town eludes me, there are more demons around each corner then I would have ever dream about.
The party ran ahead without me noticing as I grabbed bodies of the townsfolk and pulled them from the burning buildings. My short legs just makes me wonder how I can keep up the pace. I feel weary from the battles fought thus far but I still have my best tricks up my sleeve, which I hope to save my life.
As I realized the party had moved on I quickly ran to join them, hoping that I did not spend to much time in the flames.
As I approached the Keep I noticed Khita and Nathan along side people I have not seen before fighting among-st demons. I quickly joined the fight to aid my comrades. Fallen bodies everywhere, demons and townsfolk alike.
I look at the others as the last demon falls and watch them gather around what seemed to be a cleric and pray to Pelor, as we took a few minutes to catch our breath.
We banded together as a large military unit and advanced. peering through gateway that had one side swung open we noticed a battalion of demons. They had formed ranks, such organization, I did not know demons has banded together to form military units, this may be troublesome.
A large Demon was glimpsed alongside a large chain-like figure leaving the area. Troublesome are these demons indeed.
They stood staring noticing Nathan's shadow, and battle ensued. They held us at the door choke point, holding our movements. I used a few of my battle tricks and slid in through the ranks but became the target of their fury... I am thankful there was some divine healing sent my way as Nathan and I taunted and took the brunt of the blows.
As the others prayed and danced I picked up one of the chains wrapped around one of the fallen enemies.
[Weapon___Prof.__ Damage_Range_Price_Weight Group Properties Spiked chain_+3_____2d4____—___30 GP_10 lb._Flail_____Reach]
twas a bit messy and dirty, I swung it around a bit to try to shake off the sticky goo upon it and placed it away for later. What interested me was how this chain flew threw the air to hit its target.
As soon as everyone had caught their breath we pressed on in hopes that the large demons had not ransacked the keep.
We pressed on and stumbled upon the Demon seeing his facial features in the distance it reminded me of the paintings the oracle spoke about as the Kathon one of the demon generals. Then we heard a female Cry in pain and noticed the large Chain-like creature crushing her head and then she fell to the floor. immediately after hearing the cry and the exchange of words between Kathon and the lord of the keep it seemed, a trap was triggered and large iron bars fell separating Kathon from the lord as he made his escape.
Hmm... Kathon was after some key, what would this key be for...
As Kathon turned to us, he greeted us as heroes of old and offered each of us power if we aided him.
To be an elf... Although it was tempting, I had longed for it in my past I had accepted the fact I was a gnome by birth and stood in silence as I stared at Kathon waiting to see what would happen.
Kathon yelled as he knew no one was falling to his temptation and lure of power. Kathon belched out 3 spirits and we rushed into the fight. The cleric known as Teras erected a wall of swords and warned us of its danger so we began to set a wall to prevent them from from going through. What we did not know was the spirit seemed to enslave our minds and we began attacking each other.
As the spirits fell chains had wrapped around me and I could not resist as I watched my body attack those I had come with to aid this village. What power had overcome me.
I tried to shake it off and overcome the whispers the chains had engulfed my mind in but far.
As I finally shook free after several attempts from my allies to free my mind I noticed the chain golem had fallen and approached Kathon as one of swordsman charged past me and with a brutal blow he knocked Kathon up against a wall and there he laid fallen before this band of defenders.
But as his last breath expired a glowing mist flowed from his body and an angelic figure stood before us.
Twas Erincarr one of the heroes of old thought to be a dragon. Saddened on how it was true the process has begun looking over at Khita... Erincarr granted power yet to another vessel... The power flowed from the spirit and burned as it glowed upon my skin, the mark was interesting, but what kind of power was released...
The Lord of the Keep returned telling us of the key and the demon portal below the city. He thanked us for our aid and rewarded us with gold and offered us to stay rest a while and help rebuild the city.
