With the recent peril and high stakes of the game it might be prudent if we each keep a "backup" character handy.
Let's state our preferences here:
I can honestly play anything. At the moment I have a cleric/druid loaded up. However seeing as Mike has made a Sentinel Druid for his new character, we might get a little druided-out so to speak.
I made up another defender last night. Seeing as Watcher is a defender the most logical choice to replace him under the circumstance of his death would be with another defender. Therefore, I made up a goliath warden at level 12 who looks fun to play.
But Zach has commented that if Watcher dies it is likely that at least one other party member has died or will die shortly following him. This opens up space to replace Watcher with a non-defender. So I might make up something else. You know, just in case.
Anyway. If you have any strong preference for a backup character - claim your domain here! lol.
See you guys Sunday.

LOL! I was going make a similar thread two nights ago but changed my mind because I didn't want to seem too pessimistic (read as realistic). I really want to see Aeroneth through to his Epic Destiny as a star among the Sea of Siberys (Radiant One).
Anyhow, if his journey ends this weekend I have a few character builds I've been working on:
- Dragonborn weapon talent (two-handed) fighter. - Half-elf battlemind. - Human two-weapon ranger.
I have seeds of ideas for backstories on all of these.
David, if this weekend does go bad, at what level should we build our characters?

Even mine? Lol. Man, I gotta catch up. When did everything get so scary?
Ok. I'm down to play anything too.
I've got a dwarven fighter, elven avenger, Human wizard, and an eladrin warlord lined up. If i had to pick I was leaning towards the avenger. It's been a while since I've played a straight up striker.

Even mine? Lol. Man, I gotta catch up. When did everything get so scary? Well, Josan and "Randy's character" were carried off by the banshees. As for catching up, I posted a snippet in the "general" thread so as not to derail this thread. And things got scary when we decided not to go after the Karnnathi princess and we lost our healer. ;D

I'd pretty much be willing to play anything, depending on how it pans out.

David, is there a way we could work the Talaric Codex into the campaign. As far as I know, it only has two mentions in published material; the paragon paths Talaric Strategist (ardent) and Talaric Ironjack (battlemind).
If I end up playing the battlemind I was going to include some exposition about the Talaric Order. Given the nature of the campaign thusfar, the codex would be a nice hook. I was imagining that "little do Eberron's historians know is that the ancient psionic techniques found in the codex were integral to driving back the abominations of Xoriat so that the Gatekeepers could seal off the portals through which they entered Eberron and imprison the daelkyr in Khyber."

OK. My backups are a warden and a wizard, but it will take a lot to kill Watcher.

I agree, there's more chance of Watcher surviving than Aeroneth and/or Gwen; Aeroneth had only 13 HP remaining when he jumped into the portal.
Kyle, if it's required, do you mind remaining defender (as Watcher or the warden)?
I'll prepare to play the ranger if Aeroneth falls.
However, if others state they want to play strikers, please state as much soon, we don't want to end up with a glut of strikers.

I made two back up characters for the sake of flexibility. I will play whatever is needed should the worst occur.

I want to play a striker! Sorry. Lol. Im worried about having too many leaders, otherwise I'd be happy to play my warlord.
Edit: Also happy to fill in as defender.

I don't have any particular attachment to playing another Striker, so feel free to prepare one yourself.
Of course, with a six person party, there's always an extra of sorts, so it depends on what happens with Randy and his character, as well as what he would consider for a backup. Right now I have plenty of Controller and Defenders ready to go, and I could draw up a few more Leaders just in case.

Alrighty, so to summarize it sounds like each of us has a couple back up characters ready. I'd recommend keeping at least one on hand for game day. Micah is leaning toward striker, and Gabe would like to play a striker in the future as well. Zach and Kyle have little preference.
I think further detailed discussion on future party make up would be premature.
It's good that we all have this in mind though. If we keep extra characters on hand, we'll loose less time at the game table. It takes less time for David and player to conjure up some story for the introduction of a new character, than it does to do both that and draw up a new PC from scratch.

We might all survive tomorrow, or maybe lose only a couple people.

Well, those of us who were technically still alive as of last time survived. It's fun when the first thing you have to do in a session is rolling the first saving throw against death.
Anyhow, David mentioned that he won't be available for the game that is scheduled for the 26th and the sooner we begin a dialogue for a make up date to the better our chances of finding a time that everyone can manage.
