Use this as the central discussion for all things related to the game. Questions welcomed... but if it's anything at all regarding your character, PM me. I want to keep metagame knowledge to an absolute minimum. Let me repeat... do NOT post backstories or character sheets in the forums (not even names), PM them to me instead. This will allow for better RP at the table.

It's 8... did you not read the character creation guidelines? Campaign setting and history can be found here. My guidelines for character creation can be found here. Read the campaign setting before the character creation guidelines. If anything is unclear or you have questions or concerns, post them here! Let me repeat... do NOT post backstories or character sheets in the forums (not even names), PM them to me instead. This will allow for better RP at the table. EDIT: Also, register at Obsidian Portal and leave your member name here so I can add you to the campaign.

I will be using obsidian portal to host all things related to the game: World information, hero/villain bios, locations, factions, house rules, session summaries, etc. The forums here will still be the primary source of communication; the wiki will be a resource for all things pertaining to the game. Here is the link: Paradigm ShiftWhen I make an update to the wiki, I'll bump the forums to make you aware.
Also, I should make this clear. The Age of Heroes has just begun - meaning there are no established super hero teams in my world. So anything in Freedom City regarding masked super heros (such as academies that train them) are not present in my Freedom City.

I should mention... be sure to hit PL caps on Toughness, Parry/Dodge, Attack, Effect (i.e. damage). The PL is a guideline for me to know what I can throw at you guys. So if you fall under the PL, you are not really at that PL and might get clobbered by my challenges.
Skill PL caps are a different thing though, RP backstory should determine those. Use these guidelines to determine proper ranks in a skill:
Basic: 5-8 Professional: 9-12 Expert: 13-16 Mastery: 17-19

Alright, so I have one completed character (backstory and build), half of a character (backstory), and then almost nada from someone. Depending on how soon you get your information to me, and how fast I can incorporate that information into our first adventure, we could start as early as Feb. 5th or 19th.

So, would everyone be free to play this Saturday (Feb. 5th) at 3pm if I get all the information I need from you guys in time?
If I get everything by Wednesday night and I green light it, that should give me enough time to be ready.
EDIT: If so, everyone be sure to check your message inbox the morning of the game. I'll be sending everyone an individual message to set up the scene we will be starting at when we arrive at AGR to play.

<!> I have a disclaimer of sorts to announce: <!>Even though this will be my first time being a GM, I have a style that I'm shooting for that I feel will bring a great experience to all at the table. Maybe those of you who GM have done the same, but anyways... My planning will be NPC goal orientated. The NPCs in my stories will have an objective and a means to achieve that objective. Left uninhibited, my story will unfold precisely to the villain's plan, or whatever may be happening. Then you guys come in, the wild cards. You can do anything and everything you want (however, all actions will have repercussions - Good or Bad). Since my planning is NPC goal orientated, with sufficient RP development of said NPCs, I can in turn adjust my NPCs actions and plans depending on how you guys throw a monkey wrench into their plans. That is to say, you do /not/ have to go along for the ride with my story I'm telling, because the story I'm telling will be developed with the mindset that the villains would be left unchallenged. So I'm depending on you guys to take action to change the timeline so to speak. I will have contingency plans for the most likely outcomes in situations that may arise (think Fable decision making - but they will not always be so apparent). Even if there is no plan, I will have enough background on the NPCs to roll with whatever you throw at me. Since death isn't as abundant in M&M as it is in D&D, a defeat of either party (Good PCs or Bad NPCs) doesn't mean the end. So, the story that we will tell together at the table will depend on the wins and losses of those encounters. As it's been said, History is written by the winners. So, whose story will we tell, those of the Deviants or those of the Paradigms and Vigilantes? Bottom line: Don't be afraid to take things in a completely different direction of what you "think" is the direction I'm trying to take the story. My planning is modular enough to account for changes that seem to be the complete opposite of where the story is going. Also, get out of the D&D mindset of where victory equates to completely slaughtering (literally) the opposition. If you foil the villain's plans, that's an encounter win. If you capture a villain, that's like completing a major quest in D&D.
