I posted new guidelines for character generation to reflect changes in the alignment system and the fact that we are level 2.
One other thing I didn't include there, because it is in no way a rule, is that for backup characters the earlier you submit the character backstory to me the better because I will want to introduce that character into the campaign while your current character still lives. One I think it's a cool way to allow you guys to influence the world you're playing in, but also, should tragedy strike and you need to actually start playing that character, it will potentially feel less clunky trying to fit a new character into the story on the fly.
I don't need stats, because out of respect for your character concept I won't make them major NPCs or do any serious role playing with them that might possibly compromise your vision for that character. I'll introduce them just enough so that if that character needs to be introduced in the future it won't be "sure. lets let this complete stranger who appears to also be a very talented assassin who wears a mask all the time into our party, because hurp durp."
Also, as we level up think of how your character has been adventuring meanwhile and add that into your backstory. Level 1-3 your characters are powerful, but not awesomely so. You can win most barfights, but if the Overlook city guard comes after you, they will wreck your shit. Yes even Cathal, Bryan. But at level 5+ your character is officially battle hardened, so consider what they've been attempting to accomplish since they left home/ran away from home/were banished from home, etc. What allies and enemies did they make as they progressed from level 1 to level whatever.
