That beer we had yesterday was...AWESOME! 3 or 4 times since yesterday afternoon I've been visited by the aromatic phantom of that beer.
Edit: thread-jacked, changed title.

Hijacking thread . . . I just got an Xbox One - does anyone here use one? What games do you play - maybe we can do multiplayer sometime. I got Dragon Age: Inquisition to go with the console. So far I really like it, but I've only played about two hours. Basically I did the intro mission, then I decided to hunt some ram meat, because the people in my Inquisition camp were starving. And I made a new set of armor with like 13 pieces of iron that I collected. Oh yeah, and I got my butt kicked a couple times by templars, because I haven't learned the controls yet. PS - I know console wars are a thing. I am not interested in them.

Careful... DA:I will consume you if you let it...

This week I am thankful that a Thanksgiving vacation will take me away from the Inquisition for a while... 40hrs+ in already. I guess that's what happens when a three-day fever coincides with the arrival of the only console game I've been looking forward to for a while.

So Inquisition is good? It's hard for me to outright call DA II a bad game, but the words "disappointing" and "infuriating" do come to mind when comparing it to DA:O.

DA:I is amazing... AMAZING... So however many times you think Origins was better than II, Inquisition is that much better (or even more) than Origins.

DA:I is much better than 2. I don't know how I would compare it to Origins. Gameplay wise, there is a lot to it. It's Dragon age origins, mixed with skyrim, mixed with pseudo RTS elements (send followers on missions to unlock stuff, but play through the story/side quests to gain power to send followers on missions.. etc). Then you add in the crafting (which honestly I don't really like because there is a piece of iron or elfroot about every 15 steps and you have to grab it :X) and other things like side upgrades/spending inquisition points to upgrade your potions, etc.
But yeah... I know how it feels to get murdererered by the enemies. I somehow stumbled upon a dragon in the first area while I was level 3. The dragon 1 shot my party... And even with the special unlocks you get for the collector's edition, my warrior still gets smacked in the face. I kind of want to retry the game as a rogue (daggers) or mage (is there heals?), but i've almost fully explored the first area, and am now just opening the game by continuing the story line.

To be able to face dragons... you need a Spirit Mage for barrier... and Rejuvenation (HoT) potions.
There is no healing, just the prevention of damage through barrier.
Just be of level of the dragon, keep barrier up, and pop HoT potions when party members are at 1/2 HP. This should get your through the dragon fights.

I never played any of the DA games, though they were always on my radar. I have, however, played and loved all the ME games to which I've heard DA's gameplay is similar. EA definitely improved and mastered the classes in ME with each additional game.
What was was so great about DA:O?
Should I get DA:I on my PC?
Edit: I changed the title of the thread. That beer was really good, though.

What was was so great about DA:O? It was basically Mass Effect... but you know, D&D style.

It's a bioware game. The story is just there. It is THAT good.
I would honestly recommend playing DA:O before DA:I. You can't really skip DA:2, but you can learn about the story via dragonagekeep.com (which would allow you to customize your world for DA:I).
But if you want to just dive into DA:I, go to dragonagekeep and review all the story choices etc, to see how it all plays out and how the world is for you.

I wouldn't compare it to ME, gameplay wise, due to the fact that it is absolutely NOT a first person shooter. It's much closer to the old KOTOR games than ME. Also because the main character changes from game to game. If you like Bioware, you will like DA:O. Get it now.
DA2... worth playing, great finale, fun mechanics, but try to get it cheap. It has very, very little replay value compared to DA:O. DA:O I've played many times over. DA2, I started a second playthrough... then about 20% deep I decided I didn't need to see it a second time. Just keep your expectations in check going in and you won't be so disappointed after playing DA:O

Yeah, and DA: Inquisition is enormous. There is no way you can do everything with one character. I can't wait to finish it with my elven mage so I can re-roll a new character and make different choices. I think I'm near the end, but I don't know. I might only be half way through.
