CURRENT XP TOTAL: 2200
LOOT: There won't really be any more chances to make purchases until we come back from Joseph's campaign. If we return to Phandelver, I'll give you guys a number that is an approximation of how much your characters would have accrued by that time.

So you should all have all of your current gold totals.
From here on in, Sagan will serve as the party's accountant, owing to her elvish affinity for numbers and shiny things.
Also, all coins will now be given in approximate gold totals. No more small change weighing us down.

After I found out the History of EP can I still get those? Like I'll do the math if you just tell me what they grand total would have been. My rogue wants to bluff that they are worth more then they actually are. You know like when you find a quarter that has two heads so you sell it for more then .25. I kinda want to RP with this world a bit more.

I'll phrase it this way when you guys find treasure "you find the equivalent of...."
I'm happy to let you bluff with the ep a couple of times (sounds hilarious), but don't expect it to work very often.
Generally if you're not familiar with a piece of currency, you're just going to tell someone, "sorry, we don't accept monopoly money."

If a coin is part of the local economy, and we got them from creatures that stole them from local merchants so they definitely are, that would kinda be like taking a half-dollar to a store and claiming its a dollar hoping that because there aren't a lot of them maybe the shopkeeper will believe you because I don't even know why. Because bluffing is like mind control for non-arcane classes. (that last line was sarcasm.) I can also guarantee that if Moonbeam caught wind of such shenanigans, he'd have a major problem with it. He wouldn't rage... but he would NOT approve. He thinks of himself as neutral and he really wants to be neutral, but he's got too much of his daddy's heart and as a result definitely leans towards good more often than the teachings of the monks of the Five Point Palm allow.

Well the economy in D&D tends to be capitalism. So things are worth what people are willing to give them. The rule book says that is is from an ancient civilization and quite rare. So there is no way that my character would probably know right off the start how much these coins would be worth. So it would be more like me walking into a store with a foreign coin. So I don't see why Moonbeam could be mad that I am selling something for a higher price when I am not sure of its value myself. Even if I did. Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them. that does not go against any laws. I mean I guess he could say it is morally wrong but then I could always shoot back with the fact Merchants do the exact same thing. If an Item is worth 10G they will try to get 15G for it.

Moonbeam would be upset because this... My rogue wants to bluff that they are worth more then they actually are. That's fraud. Now if you are saying it's due to ignorance on Ronin's part because he himself doesn't know the value due to his own lack of knowledge, then I guess it would be ok. Otherwise, if you try to pass off currency as something other than what it actually is, that's evil. It's one thing to haggle over the price. It's another thing entirely to agree to 10g pieces and only pay 5g because you "bluffed" the person into thinking your coin was something that it isn't. Can you get away with it? Sure! That doesn't mean it's not a terribly selfish act, which is the foundation of evil. As far as the "history of electrum" I don't care what Google says. Google is shifty eyed bitch that will play games with your heart and then smash it on the floor. This is all the "economics" you need to understand; The goblins and bugbears did not steal the electrum from an ancient civilization. They stole it from local traders. Local traders part of the local economy. Local traders in a local economy use coins that people are familiar with. They are using electrum, electrum is a coin, therefore electrum can be assumed to be a coin people are familiar with. Also, RPing with the world by trying to haggle with a shopkeep who is not really part of the storyline? RPing with a shopkeep is like wanking off in public. It might be a thrill for you, but everybody else in sight is just wishing you'd get on with it already and move on.

Evil maybe, unlawful no. I didn't claim it wasn't an Evil act. Also if by Google you mean the rulebook?....... Also merchants carry stuff to sell. They could have feasibly been a coin collected going to sell the coins or trade with them. I mean if we are going to make assumptions.... So it's still RPing if you don't like it your character can do something else. I mean I know there are plenty of times I have sat there patiently while I thought you guys ( i mean in all games in general no specific people) were doing stupid stuff that I felt was dumb and wasteful. Yet it's something you thought was enjoyable so I didn't say a word about it.

If you think we are doing stuff as a group that is stupid and wasteful and you are interested in doing things in game that have nothing to do with the group... there's an implication there about your role in the group you may want to think about.
And also... Stupid? Dumb? Did you really just call the way we play stupid? I do not think that was necessary nor appropriate at all.
I suppose I appreciate the honesty, and it is vital to the health of a gaming group that issues/concerns/grievances have a chance to be aired, but I think we need to talk about this outside the game before we continue the game. Lets take this to PMs and set up a time to talk. I won't discuss it here any further.
